NDP 2007

NDP 2007, held at the Marina Bay Floating Stadium - the world's first and largest floating stage.

While spectacular parades, aerial stunts, mass displays, and fireworks enthralled the 27,000 spectators at Singapore's 42nd National Day Parade, iCELL Network's wireless mesh network provided connectivity for thousands more who enjoyed a personalised NDP experience on their PCs, laptops, mobile phones and PDAs.

World's First And Largest Floating Stage

For this celebration, iCELL Network built a mesh network of nearly 50 access points and mesh nodes on the Marina Bay Floating Stadium and in the surrounding vicinity, covering the entire Marina Bay area, the adjoining Marina Square shopping mall and sections of the downtown Civic District. Through this network, 18 cameras streamed live video footage of the parade and fringe celebration activities to anyone with a wireless mobile device.

"Infocomm has the power to extend the reach and richness of our National Day celebrations," said Mr Chan Yeng Kit, CEO of IDA. Even if you couldn't get a ticket, you "needn't take a back seat. You can be part of the celebrations."

Rapid Deployment

To support a celebration of this size, iCELL Network connected the mesh to the Internet via a 60Mbps broadband connection. The entire setup took two weeks for physical deployment, and just one day to dismantle. Technology partners included Firetide, Colubris, HP and AscenVision.
